Lovejoy of the 3rd Regiment. Many of the letters pertain to accusations made against Lovejoy about him improperly enlisting recruits and overstaying a leave of absence. Thomas C. McInturff wrote this letter to his father in East Tennessee from Camp Crawford in Vicksburg, Mississippi on February 19, 1863. In it, he discusses his and Sam's health, asks his father to settle some affairs on his behalf, complains that the food and the weather are both very poor, and states that he believes that Vicksburg is the nastiest place on earth.
