Scope and Contents Note From the Collection: This circular is addressed to the voters of the second congressional district of Tennessee in order to announce Churchwell's candidacy for reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives, running against Horace Maynard. His primary issues in the circular are to defend himself against negative claims reported in the Knoxville Register on June 22 and 29, and to criticize Maynard for some essays he published in the Times under a false name.
