Abstract

This collection consists of two railroad passes issued to Rev. J. K. Spence. One pass was created by the Memphis & Charleston Rail Road Co. and the other comes from the East Tennessee, Virginia, & Georgia Railway System.

Notes on Charles Cummings

Abstract

This collection includes a notepad with a handwritten letter describing the life of Charles Cummings from 1767 to 1812, and it is dated March 25, 1850. The notes include his work with presbyteries, his marriage to Millie Carter, and personal stories. The notes are addressed to David Campbell at Montcalm, Abingdon, Virginia. On the inside cover of the notebook is written “Mary E. Spencer” and “Knoxville High School”.

This collection consists primarily of correspondence between Thomas Roberts and several members of his family dating from 1842 to 1913. Also included are genealogical records (including handwritten narratives and lists of births, deaths, and marriages), military papers, land records (documenting holdings in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Texas), sermons and religious reflections, and a scrapbook.
