This collection contains various pieces of popular sheet music ranging from 1895-1986 with the bulk of the music dating from the early 20th century.

This collection consists of papers belonging to Alfred Leo Schmied, piano professor at the University of Tennessee from 1947-1977 and head of the Music Department from 1952-1972. Schmied was a member of several national music organizations and was educated by world-renowned instructors. He himself was renowned for his nationally-recognized excellence in piano and his legacy in music education.

This collection houses a list of music courses offered by the University of Tennessee's Department of Fine Arts in 1947.

Sheet music and notes from a correspondence music course taken by Leon Carson during 1915-1916 from the U. S. School of Music, New York City while he was living in Maryville, Tenn. Accompanying each piece of sheet music is a description page with details about the songs and instructions for playing.

The University of Tennessee School of Music published this newsletter, entitled Noteworthy, in the Spring of 2004. It contains information on new faculty members, a feature story on the James R. Cox Auditorium, student news, and choral news.
