It includes poems of friendship from friends, siblings, and a group of strangers who made a short sojourn with Clayton. Some poems are addressed to "Emma" while others to "Mrs. Clayton." Mollie Thomson wrote her sentiments in the various spaces of a sketched quilt block. Many of the signatures include locations in the "C.S.A."
