This collection houses the original typed and corrected pages of Volume 4 of Paul Weiss' Philosophy in Process (1969). Each page in this journal of philosophical reflections has been labeled with the date of its composition. An additional sheet indicates that the book is dedicated to Robert and Rita Hartman.

Robert S. Hartman and Robert E. Carter Transcript
This document is a 154-page transcript of a tape recording of a conversation that took place between Dr. Robert S. Hartman and Dr. Robert E. Carter in Knoxville, Tennessee in April of 1970. Entitled Conversation on Intrinsic Value, it represents Hartman's thinking on one area of his philosophy.

This collection consists primarily of publications, drafts, correspondence, student papers, reference materials, reel-to-reel tapes, and other documents showing Robert S. Hartman's study of such subjects as profit sharing, philosophy, and axiology. Other materials document his career as a Professor at the University of Tennessee, the University of Mexico, Ohio State University, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Robert S. Hartman Papers
This collection consists primarily of Robert S. Hartman's early work on the subjects of axiology and profit sharing. It also houses a wealth of correspondence, including letters written between Hartman and Wanda Nekrasz (a young Polish Auschwitz survivor who Hartman met in Sweden and later brought to Wooster College). Also included are approximately 200 photographs depicting World War II and the Holocaust.
Robert S. Hartman Papers
This collection consists primarily of an incomplete undated typescript entitled "The Axiological Revolution in Mexico" by Robert S. Hartman. The document bears handwritten corrections throughout. Also included are a letter that graduate student Raymond Pruitt wrote to Hartman on July 2, 1971 about Hartman's Four Axiological Proofs of the Infinite Value of Man and Hartman's reply of July 16, 1971.

Robert S. Hartman's The Structure of Value
This collection contains a large manuscript of The Structure of Value: Foundations of Scientific Axiology by Robert S. Hartman. Hartman’s book, published in 1967, is about value theory and identifies three kinds of value (intrinsic goods, extrinsic goods, systemic goods). It also is about formal axiology: all good things fulfill the ideal standards or concepts that we apply to them.
