Photograph of Civil War Army Officers, 1861
A single stereograph of United States Army officers during the American Civil War. The photo was taken by noted Civil War photographer Alexander Gardner in 1861. Eleven men are shown in the photos, some sitting and some standing. All are dressed in full military regalia. It is possible that George McClellan appears in the photographs; the photographer Alexander Gardner was an honorary captain on the staff of McClellan in 1861. The bottom of the photographs reads "Entered according to Act of Congress, in the year 1861, by Alex Gardner, in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the District of Columbia."
