William Gibbs McAdoo Bill of Complaint, 1858 April 23
Collection contains two documents, the original bill for "The State of Tennessee vs. The Bank of Knoxville" and a legal brief regarding Tennessee legislation related to the case. Both were penned by the Attorney General of the 3rd Judicial Circuit, William Gibbs McAdoo. The bill complaint requests the forfeiture of the charter of the Bank of Knoxville due to the failure of the owners, Dyer and Eldridge Pearl of Davidson County, to redeem outstanding bank bills. The documents are eleven handwritten pages.
