This collection documents the work of Harold Ray Payne with the Great Smoky Mountains. Included are papers, notebooks, reports, and books on several projects by Payne such as Elkmont preservation, Wonderland Hotel, and North Shore Road. There is some correspondence with representatives regarding funding and papers regarding legislation, namely with Ted Snyder.
