Original caption reads: Like other TVA dams, the Watts Bar Dam (1939-1942) is multipurpose in nature, serving the interests of flood regulation, navigation and power production. Watts Bar is on the Tennessee River, in Meigs and Rhea Counties, Tennessee. It is 112 feet high, 2,960 feet long, and impounds a lake of 38,600 acres. Length of the lake is 72.4 miles. The dam's powerhouse has an installed capacity of 150,000 kw.
