This letter deals with life in Clear Creek during the Civil War. M. E. sends a letter previously by handing it to a Mr. W. to take to Greenville so that it would be mailed. Mr. Wm. [Ganievaw] lost the letter. She tells that Cousin Lettie died. Cousin Wm. is going to let Mary have the children. Everyone is healthy except Idelah who has been horse and with a cough. John Alexander has two teeth. She spins wool and makes apple butter. Her mother returns home since Mr. Roadman married. M. E. has been looking for Alex. [Prisoners] are being exchanged at Vicksburg. Several men have run away, Charlie Parrott and the [Harnered] boys trying to make their way to Kentucky. Sam [Harnered] was killed and Charlie Parrott was taken as a prisoner in Virginia. M. E. wants Bettie to come for a visit and bring their father.
