Unsigned letter written by a Civil War soldier camped near Savannah, Tenn., to his wife, 1862 April 14
This collection contains a single letter written by a Civil War solider to his wife, dated April 14th, 1862. He was camped near Savannah, Tennessee. He had no direct involvement in the Battle of Shiloh (April 6-7), though he reports a little on the casualties, citing that we were only in hearing distance but saw the wounded by thousands. He goes on to reference the deaths of those in other companies. Most of the letter is concerned with the soldier's requests about personal matters and questions about his family at home.
