Scope and Contents Note From the Collection: This collection contains a single letter written by a Civil War solider to his wife, dated April 14th, 1862. He was camped near Savannah, Tennessee. He had no direct involvement in the Battle of Shiloh (April 6-7), though he reports a little on the casualties, citing that we were only in hearing distance but saw the wounded by thousands.
