Amos Guthrie Letter, 1864 March 19
In this letter, Amos Guthrie shares his political opinions with his father. He is mostly concerned with Copperheads in his hometown, saying you say that Rumley township will stand a draft well it will be a good thing if only a certain kind would be taken that kind is a copperhead. Private Guthrie also promises to send his father a paper of old Parson Brownlow's [a prominent Knoxville Whig] maufacture. Guthrie also asks his father about family matters, including a lawsuit in which his father was embroiled.
