Pamphlets Regarding the John Been Family, 1981 November 1-2008 November 15 (Bulk 1981 November 1-1997 June)

 File — Box: 1, Folder: 1
From the Collection:

These booklets discuss the early members of the Been family, focusing on Lieutenant John Been and his relationship to Captain William Bean (the first settler in Tennessee) and both men's descendants. The first booklet, "Beene and Related Families," contains an account of the Been family history written by Virgil Francis Carmichael and includes newspaper articles concerning Carmichael's service in World War II and death on November 13, 2004. The second booklet, "John Been," was written by Jim D. Beene to verify that Lieutenant John Been was Captain William Bean's brother and so establish the relationship between these two branches of the Bean/Been family. Among the family lineage, several spelling variations of the surname appear, including Bean, Been, and Beene.
