Biographical/Historical Note
Stifel and Pfeiffer Brewery was established in Nashville in 1859. The business briefly closed during the Civil War but reopened in 1864. The brewery then saw several owners and names, but by the 1890s became the William Gerst Brewing Company which remained in operation until 1954.
