This collection houses a variety of materials documenting the celebrations held in honor of the University of Tennessee's Bicentennial in 1994. Among these items are written recollections of the University contributed by alumni, two copies of Through the Arch: Home Economics to Human Ecology 1897-1994, The Vision Lives On: The University of Tennessee Bicentennial, 1794-1994, and such memorabilia as bumperstickers, window stickers, pins, and two medals commemorating Old College, the first academic building built at the University's present location in Knoxville.

Biographical/Historical Note

Claiming 1794 as its date of origination, the University of Tennessee celebrated its bicentennial in 1994. As part of the celebration, the University published special histories of the University and its individual departments, began the annual Charter Day celebration, and sponsored many individual celebrations across the University of Tennessee campus.
