University of Tennessee Bicentennial Records
This collection consists of merged materials from AR.0228, AR.0536, AR.0576, and AR.0749, all pertaining to the University of Tennessee's Bicentennial celebration in 1994. The combined collection includes various correspondences, event details, and ephemera showcasing the planning and proceeding of the various Bicentennial events.
Series I: Bicentennial Correspondance and Event Details contains the correspondence of the various Bicentennial planning committees and their plans for the opening ceremonies, convocations, and a year of varying celebrations. Series II: Bicentennial Memorabilia and Ephemera includes varying objects and "swag" produced by the University of Tennessee to celebrate the Bicentennial. Objects primarily consist of mugs, cups, and medallions but also include pins, paperweights, pitchers, minature torches, and event ephemera. Notably, this series also includes multiple forms of artwork created for the event such as sketches, finalized posters and the logo design winner for the UT Bicentennial Celebration.

Abstract
This collection houses a variety of records and memorabillia documenting the University of Tennessee's 1994 Bicentennial celebration. Materials in this collection are dated from 1976 to 2004, with the bulk of materials dating from 1993-1994, and detail the planning and proceeding of the celebration through correspondences, event details, and various ephemera.
Biographical/Historical Note
Claiming 1794 as its date of origination, the University of Tennessee celebrated its Bicentennial in 1994. As part of the campus-wide celebrations, the University published special histories of the University and its individual departments, began the annual Charter Day celebration, and sponsored many individual celebrations across the UT System.

This collection consists of merged materials from AR.0288, AR.0536, AR.0576, and AR.0749, all pertaining to the University of Tennessee's Bicentennial celebration in 1994. The combined collection includes two series of various correspondences, event details, and ephemera showcasing the planning and proceeding of the event. Materials in Series I: Bicentennial Correspondences and Event Details are organized chronologically. Materials in Series II: Bicentennial Memorabilia and Ephemera are organized by object type and size, and then chronologically when possible.
