Earl Zwingle created this collection of University of Tennessee memorabilia. It includes programs for and tickets to such events as Carnicus, Volunteer Vanities, and Aloha Oe, two ballots for All Student's Club elections, and newspaper articles documenting alumni events. The collection also houses several letters to and from Earl Zwingle, Milton Klein, and former University of Tennessee President Joseph Johnson.

The collection also houses several letters to and from Earl Zwingle, Milton Klein, and former University of Tennessee President Joseph Johnson.
Biographical/Historical Note
Earl Houston Zwingle was born to Christopher Mullins and Maude (Woods) Zwingle in Vanderburgh County, Indiana on December 29, 1909. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a BS in Commerce on June 8, 1931 and spent most of his professional career as a businessman in California. In 1980, Zwingle designed and began selling a Torchbearer necktie to fund the Vic Davis Torchbearer Award for seniors at the University of Tennessee. He was particularly pleased when President Ronald Reagan wore one of these ties to light the Statue of Liberty. Earl Zwingle died on February 15, 2003 in California.
