NCAA Division I Certification Self-Study Report
This collection houses a report of a self-study of the University of Tennessee's athletic program conducted to complete the NCAA's new certification process. The four major areas of the report are Governance, Academic Integrity, Fiscal Integrity, and Equity. Major topics include annual budgeting data, statements of athletics department policy (with gender and race equity emphasized in the report), graduation-rates reports, and initiatives taken by the department to ensure academic success for athletes.

Biographical/Historical Note
The Steering Committee for this self-study was appointed in November of 1993 and charged by President Joseph Johnson and Chancellor William T. Snyder. Over the next year, the Committee collected data and conducted interviews, resulting in the study's completion in December 1994.
