Chancellor’s Staff Meeting Minutes
This collection includes minutes and supporting documents showing meetings of the Chancellor’s staff from their last meeting of 1988 through the middle of April 1989. Major topics discussed include university budget information, campus fundraising activities, admission and retention issues, and announcements of administrative openings at other institutions. The Chancellor under which these meetings occurred was Jack Reese.
Several meetings contain detailed information on specific topics of interest. The meeting of 21 December 1989 includes a summary of affirmative action complaints filed during the previous year. The meeting of 1 February 1989 contains a summary of undergraduate and graduate enrollment goals. The meeting of 15 March 1989 contains an analysis of the impact of the Academic Review policy on minorities, and the meeting of 29 March 1989 contains a report on the progress of desegregation at the university.

Biographical/Historical Note
Jack Edward Reese was promoted to Chancellor of the Knoxville campus in 1973, a position he held for sixteen years.
