Blount County Surveys
These two surveys were performed on behalf of Jacob and Margaret Thomas of Blount County, Tennessee. Each document includes a chart of markers and distances, a scale drawing of the plot, and a written description of the survey. Surveyor General Robert Wear certified both surveys on February 29, 1808.

Abstract
These two surveys were performed on behalf of Jacob and Margaret Thomas of Blount County, Tennessee. Each document includes a chart of markers and distances, a scale drawing of the plot, and a written description of the survey. Surveyor General Robert Wear certified both surveys on February 29, 1808.
Biographical/Historical Note
Jacob Thomas was born in about 1780 in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. During the War of 1812, he served with Colonel Bunch's Regiment of East Tennessee Militia. Thomas married Margaret Elizabeth Neiman (1787-1888) on February 20, 1812, and the couple had six children, George, Henry, Jacob, John, Adam, and Margaret. Jacob Thomas died on September 10, 1855 in Cleveland, Tennessee.
Robert Wear was born to Samuel and Polly (Thompson) Wear i Wear's Fort, Sevier County, Tennessee on November 4, 1781. He married Lucretia Thomas (1784-1830) on December 30, 1802, and the couple had fifteen children: Louisiana (Wear) Tipton (1803-1890), Eliza (Wear) Girdner (1805-1840), Elizabeth T. (Wear) Fulton (1806-1833), Albert G. (1807-1833), Mary Thompson (Wear) Gallegher (1808-1885), Erskine Haywood (1810-1839), Malvina (Wear) Lea (1811-1865), James, Gilbert Newton (1814-1884), Letitia (Wear) Kerr (1815-1881), Isaac Decatur (1817-1896), Samuel T. (1818-1839), Lucinda Jane (Wear) Singleton (b. 1820), Lucretia Adeline (Wear) Harvey (1822-1874), and Robert H. (1824-1825). Robert Wear established Riverbend Plantation near the confluence of the Little Tennessee and Holston rivers. He was elected Surveyor General of the District of French Broad and Holston in 1806 and surveyed some of the first land grants in East Tennessee in 1807. After Lucretia (Thomas) Wear's death, he married Margaret B. Wilkinson on April 14, 1831. Robert Wear died on August 4, 1846 and is buried in the family graveyard on his plantation.
