This collection includes genealogical information about the Welcker and Mitchell families, photocopies of a pension request for Benjamin F. Welcker.

Biographical/Historical Note

Benjamin Franklin Welcker was born on April 5, 1821 to John Henry and Elizabeth (Inman) Welcker. He married Sarah E. Reagan in January of 1843 and Hester A. Ish on December 28, 1852. He enrolled in the Confederate Army on July 22, 1861 and later led Welcker's Battalion, Tennessee Cavalry. He died on August 28, 1889.

Acquisition Note

These papers were donated to Special Collections by George L. Welcker in 1963.
