Biographical/Historical Note
The cemetery of First Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, Tennessee is the oldest cemetery in Knoxville. It contains many of the city's early prominent residents including the city's founder James White. The earliest dated grave is that of William Blount from 1800, although it is believed the cemetery was used as early as the 1780s for burials. First Presbyterian Church was founded in 1792 and Samuel Carrick became the first pastor.
