Biographical/Historical Note
Andrew Lafayette Rule was born to Caleb and Elizabeth Louisa (Pierce) Rule in Sevier County, Tennessee on April 20, 1877. He married Mae Jeanette Williams and the couple had three children: Robert Andrew (1904-1977), St. Clair Caleb (1908-2003), and Kenneth Boyd (1918-1995). For most of his professional career, Rule worked as a physician in Knoxville, Tennessee. He died in Knoxville on May 12, 1950 and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery.
