Dr. Andrew L. Rule used these two ledgers to record the names of his patients and the charges they incurred between 1905 and 1914. A note on the inside cover indicates that the ledger changed hands in 1953.

John W. Cates Account Books
This collection includes two account books of Dr. John W. Cates. The first book dates from July 1863 to April 1865. The second book dates from September 1878 to October 1881.
M. T. C. Royston Ledgers
These three ledgers record the accounts of Dr. M. T. C. Royston's various patients, who are listed alphabetically at the beginning of each ledger. Each entry lists, with abbreviations, what services Royston provided and the amount he charged.
M. W. Gudger Account Ledger
M. W. Gudger used this ledger to record accounts associated with his medical practice in Lauderdale County, Tennessee between 1867 and 1870. Entries include the patient's name, the date of treatment, the diagnosis, the treatment administered, and the amount of money due.
Otis F. Hill Ledger
Dr. Otis Hill used this ledger to record the names of his patients, the visits he made to them, the treatments he administered, and the rates he charged for his services. Although Hill had an office on Cumberland street, most of these entries refer to home visits. Among Hill's more prominent patients were William Brownlow and James Cowan.

Samuel R. McDowell Ledger
This ledger belonged to Dr. Samuel R. McDowell, who practiced medicine in Sullivan County during the first half of the 20th century. It records customers' payments for his services between 1916 and 1921.
T. W. Cooper Receipt
This handwritten receipt charges Arthur Fuller $1.50 for T. W. Cooper's medical visit to his "negro girl." The receipt is originally dated November 29, 1857 and is updated on January 25, 1858 to note that the payment was received.
W. D. Cox Medical Ledger
W. S. Austin Ledger and Index
Dr. W. S. Austin used this ledger to document his work as a physician in Knoxville, Tennessee between 1905 and 1918, including some transactions made through the Tennessee Medical College and records of his salary. Also included is an index to the ledger organized by patient surname.
