This elaborately embossed journal is a Philopaena Album filled with poems of friendship from many of Phebe Havely's friends. Some were written from Endor Cottage, Tennessee, and others from Morristown, Tennessee. In the back, Havely's daughters Katie and Hattie have also signed the book.

Biographical/Historical Note
Phebe (Phoebe) Jane Havely was born in 1843 in Lee County, Virginia, to Charles and Elizabeth (Ely) Havely. In 1860, she married William Everett Mahoney Neal (1835-1907), and together they had Hattie Grace (1861-1929), Kate M. (1863-1948), Frank Reed (1872-1954), and William Everett Mahoney (1879-1960). She died September 28, 1921 and is buried in Knox County, Tennessee.
