Abstract This collection consists of two postcard albums, a newspaper clipping scrapbook, several photographs, and varied ephemera. The postcard albums were assembled by the Hoskins family of Knoxville, Tennessee. The 529 postcards are dated from 1903 to 1925, though many of them are blank, likely purchased as souvenirs by either the Hoskins family or friends. This collection contains five scrapbooks created by the Ochs and Van Dyke families of Chattanooga, Tennessee. The subjects of the five books include Milton B. Ochs’ time spent at the University of Tennessee and at the Chickering Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio; two books covering news, politics, and society in Nashville, Tennessee; letters of condolence after Ochs’ death; and a book of newspaper clippings and photographs detailing the family history of his wife’s relatives, the Van Dykes.

Phebe J. Havely Autograph Album

Abstract

This elaborately embossed journal is a Philopaena Album filled with poems of friendship from many of Phebe Havely's friends. Some were written from Endor Cottage, Tennessee, and others from Morristown, Tennessee. In the back, Havely's daughters Katie and Hattie have also signed the book.
