Biographical/Historical Note
Ruskin Cave College (named for the cave that constituted the school's auditorium) opened on the former grounds of the Ruskin Colony in Ruskin, Tennessee, in 1904. Its founder, Reverend R. E. Smith, limited enrollment to 200 students and mandated military training for his students. Many of the faculty joined the Army during World War I, which forced the college to close in 1918.
