Commencement Books and Invitations
This collection contains two commencement invitations, two leather-bound commencement books, and one invitation to a contest for Valedictorians. The 1887 invitation to the Oratorical Contest for Valedictorians is from the Medical and Dental Departments of the University of Tennessee and includes a list of presiding committee members. The 1896 UT commencement invitation includes a ribbon with the school colors, a list of class officers, and signatures of graduates. The 1920 and 1921 UT commencement books are bound in leather and include a list of class officers and a class roll with degree status. The 1920 book also includes the nameplate of Drewry D. Painter. The 1921 UT commencement invitation includes an announcement of honors and scholarships and a list of graduates and their hometowns.
