Scope and Contents Note From the Collection: A. A. Caldwell wrote this letter to Ephraim G. Ponder "in order to show you that there is one individual who disregards all your vapering threats and lies." He vilifies Ponder as "the very imbodiment of all that is mean degrading and contemptible" and upbraids him for saying that "if John Caldwell or any of his boys went to Florida the ensuing winter they would not return with as much blood as they went with if your Bowie knife would draw it." Scope and Contents Note From the Collection:

In this letter, David Henley reports that he has "forwarded Crozier and King's accounts for sundry articles of merchandize furnished for the Indian and Quarter Masters Departments and for the use of my office from April to December 1798." In all, the men are owed $451.99, which may be paid to their attorney, Samuel Meeker.

Sarah Bet begins this letter to her cousin Theora Jane Woods with her apologies that she has little of interest to relate. Bet believes that Woods would rather be living at home with her family than confined at school with those "dry studies" and goes on to relate news of recent visitors and marriages. She closes by asking her cousin to give her love to her friends and to write soon.
