In a bill of sale dated April 16, 1791, John Shaw, on behalf of Stuart J. Barn, notes the sale of 4986 pounds of tobacco for the account of James Aiken on April 29, 1790. In addition to the amount earned for the sale, the bill also lists other charges, such as freight, storage, and weighing.

Letters from Williams to His Wife in Atlanta, 1921 June

Scope and Contents Note

The first six letters are written by Williams traveling through Johnson City, Memphis, and New York City, apparently on route to England. Three are written on board the Cunard RMS Carmania. The last comes from Liverpool after his arrival.

Scope and Contents Note From the Collection: This collection contains a series of letters written by Samuel Cole Williams to his wife during June, 1921. In addition, there is a letter from 1919, offering Williams the deanship of Emory University's School of Law (a position he accepted and held for six years). The first folder consists of ten letters, written as Williams traveled north to take a ship to England. He writes a little of business, but mostly reports to his wife about people he has seen and what he has done....
