Scope and Contents Note From the Collection: In this letter, Amos Guthrie shares his political opinions with his father. He is mostly concerned with Copperheads in his hometown, saying you say that Rumley township will stand a draft well it will be a good thing if only a certain kind would be taken that kind is a copperhead. Private Guthrie also promises to send his father a paper of old Parson Brownlow's [a prominent Knoxville Whig] maufacture.
