Josiah Patty Land Grant, 1818 October 14
This document (dated October 14, 1818 and signed by Governor Joseph McMinn) describes a tract of land that the State of Tennessee granted to Josiah Patty on November 23, 1809. This tract measured 33 acres and 3 rods and was located south of the French Broad and Holston rivers. It later passed into the Gourley family, where it remained for several generations.
Confederate States of America Treasury Bond, 1862 July 9
This $100 bond (No. 1415) was issued by the Confederate States of America on July 9, 1862 and would have matured on July 1, 1871. Sixteen small certificates at the bottom, each signed by G. E. Dabney, show how much interest was due to the bearer between January 1, 1864 and July 1, 1871. Four of these certificates have been removed.
Robert Walsh Letters to W. Hyde de Neuville, 1817 February 18-1828 August 26
In the first two letters in this collection, Robert Walsh thanks Baron Hyde de Neuville for lending him a set of pamphlets, which he is returning with his letters. The final letter introduces de Neuville to Robert Walsh's brother Charles, who has recently become Secretary of the American Legation in Madrid.
