This collection consists of selected papers from the Admiral Franklin Buchanan Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy presented throughout 1956. Essays explore several topics such as "The Battle of Nashville" by Mrs. Hagan Reynolds and "General Wade Hampton, as Soldier and Statesman" by Mrs. Stella Eglesia.

The letter specifically addresses Deaderick's recollections of her elementary school education, both during and after the Civil War, at several institutions including a local Baptist church.

Navy Department "Eyes for the Navy" Correspondence, 1918 March 18, April 18

Scope and Contents Note From the Collection:

This collection consists of a memo from the Navy Department asking citizens to donate binoculars, telescopes and spy-glasses for the war effort, a part of the "Eyes for the Navy" campaign. Also included is a check made out to Eleanor F. Buffat and a signed letter from Franklin Delano Roosevelt, then the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, thanking her for her war-time contribution.
