Scope and Contents Note From the Collection:

This collection consists of an article entitled "Folklore and Folkways in the Blue Ridge and Cumberland Plateau Sections of Tennessee," written by William Earle Cole of the University of Tennessee Sociology Department and by Urban Anderson of the University of Tennessee. The article is dated May 1, 1934 and describes various folklore and folk traditions of the inhabitants of the area of Tennessee that encompasses the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Cumberland Plateau.

Scope and Contents Note From the Collection: This collection consists of several letters addressed to Charles N. Julian, dated between November 3, 1887 and April 22, 1888. The letters discuss his involvement in the Lambda Chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at the University of Tennessee, when Julian was trying in vain to have a house built for the fraternity on campus.
