Abstract

This lithograph records the senate's vote for impeachment, held on May 16 and May 26, 1868. It is signed by Salmon P. Chase, Chief Justice, and John W. Forney, Secretary. Below their names are listed 35 signatures of those voting guilty and 19 signatures of those voting not guilty.

Abstract These two tickets would have admitted the bearer to the gallery of the US Senate in order to watch the impeachment of President Andrew Johnson. The ticket for March 24 is bright yellow pasteboard and has No. 921 on its stub. The ticket for April 27 is bright green pasteboard and has No. 283 on its stub. Abstract

In this letter to Midleton Ewing Wilcox (1824-1901), Johnson acknowledges receipt of Wilcox's previous letters and reports that he has nominated Wilcox's brother for a position with the Post Office. He also comments on the current state of affairs in Washington, writing that there is much going on here in reference to President making - there are plots and counter-plots constantly going on with asperants.

This collection consists of a letter from Andrew Johnson written to the Honorable E. A. Rollins, the Commissioner of Internal Revenue, on June 19, 1867. The letter recommends Mr. Samuel Pritchitt of Nashville, Tennessee to Rollins. The collection also contains an undated printed portrait of Ulysses S. Grant.
