Abstract This collection consists of several letters that UT Cadet Arthur Swann wrote home to his mother, V. C. Swann, and two of his sisters, Victoria and Florence, in Dandridge, Tennessee between 1888 and 1890. In these letters, he discusses his daily life as a cadet at the university, asks for money to pay for room and board, and addresses concerns about his grades. This May 26, 1864, letter is from Asa M. Weston, of the 50th Ohio Infantry, Company K, written in Cleveland, Tenn., to his sister. In the letter, Weston writes that he has been left in Cleveland to take charge of baggage while the rest of his regiment is in Georgia with Sherman's army.

The Army Service Forces were created from existing services in 1942 alongside the Army Air Forces and the Army Ground forces as a result of trying to minimize the number of separate entities that were reporting to General George Marshall, the Chief of Staff under Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Abstract This notebook, from Foster and Webb, was used as the Financial Secretary's Cash Book for Bivouac No 2 of the Association of Confederate Soldiers, T. D. [Tennessee Division]. Its entries consist primarily of lists of members with records of their dues payments, with occasional notes such as transferred, suspended, exempt, life member, etc. There are several runs of these lists, separated by many blank pages.
