This collection consists of a single letter written by Cyrus Byington, a Christian missionary, on December 20, 1821 from the Choctaw Nation. In the letter, Byington expresses his thanks for the donation of clothes to the Choctaw children, who are in need of clothing for the winter.

Bales, former clerk of school district 6 Jefferson County, is addressed in many of these papers, along with several superintendents. This collection includes letters, a report of school directors to the county superintendent, daily schedule and exam questions for elementary students, and various other papers pertaining to schools in this area.

Abstract This collection consists of a daguerreotype of Henry Marshall Ashby and a sketch to his plot in Old Gray Cemetery. Ashby was a colonel in the Confederate States Army during the Civil War. Ashby enlisted in the Confederate States on July 6, 1861 at Knoxville, Tennessee, organized a company cavalry, was elected captain, and was assigned to the 4th Tennessee Cavalry Battalion which became part of the 2nd Tennessee Cavalry Regiment. Daniel Bond Letter to A. J. McWhirter

Abstract

Collection consists of a letter handwritten by Daniel Bond concerning the 1886 Tennessee gubernatorial election. Bond, a prominent West Tennesseean, states his support for East Tennessee's choice for governor, Robert Love Taylor. The letter was written to A. J. McWhirter, the Commissioner of Agriculture for Tennessee and friend of Taylor.
