T. J. Walker's handwritten, 98-page manuscript chronicles the time he spent with the 9th Tennessee Infantry between approximately 1861 and 1865. During his service, Walker was wounded five times and contracted dysentery and typhoid at Corinth, Mississippi.

A collection of letters between various members of the Saffell and Bogle families largely documenting their experiences during the Civil War. Of particular interest are the letters to and from Sam and Dick Saffell describing their service with the Confederate Army.

This collection consists of an autograph book of Confederate officers' signatures, compiled by Captain Robert M. McIntire while a prisoner of war at Johnson's Island in Lake Erie from 1863 to 1865. The collection also includes a twenty dollar bill issued by the Confederate States of America, two postcards featuring a silhouette of General Robert E. Lee on his horse Traveler, one postcard featuring The Only Confederate Drum Corps In Existence, and a Confederate battle flag pin.

This collection consists of 25 letters relating to Roswell and Nannie Kingsley, their family members, and some of their friends written from 1850-1885. The correspondence provides insights into East Tennessee during the Civil War as well as a look at ex-Confederate home life.

The Stout collection contains a several documents relating to Samuel Hollingsworth Stout, who served as a Confederate surgeon during the American Civil War.

This collection consists of a letter from Samuel K. Carrigan, sent on May 25, 1862 from Camp Mag Hill near Chattanooga, to his brother William A. Carrigan in Society Hill, South Carolina. He discusses his discontent with his fellow solider's irreligiousness and his desire to transfer into another unit, as well as the fighting in which he was involved.

This collection consists of a bound, handwritten, and illustrated memoir, written by W. J. Worsham, recording the history of the Old 19th Tennessee Regiment of the Confederate States of America, which was based in Knoxville, Tennessee. The book was dedicated in 1902 to the survivors and fallen soldiers of the regiment, according to a written note from the author.

Thomas C. McInturff wrote this letter to his father in East Tennessee from Camp Crawford in Vicksburg, Mississippi on February 19, 1863. In it, he discusses his and Sam's health, asks his father to settle some affairs on his behalf, complains that the food and the weather are both very poor, and states that he believes that Vicksburg is the nastiest place on earth. A notation at the end of the letter indicates that it was written by a friend B. F. F.

W. Dwight Reinhardt's July 8, 1862 letter to Sarah Blackburn in Yadkin County, NC, discusses that 23rd Tennessee Regiment (CSA) will soon move from Tupelo, MS, into Tennessee. He also passes along stories of skirmishes fought by the 4th North Carolina.

This collection is a diary written by William A. Mayo of Monroe County, Tennessee between the years 1861 and 1866.

The William Holland Thomas and James Robert Thomas collection consists of five boxes of materials broken down into two series. The collection spans the years 1812-1939. The first series contains William Holland Thomas's personal Bibles, correspondence, and business papers. The second series contains his son James Robert Thomas's personal items, business materials, legal documents, correspondence, maps, newspaper articles, and supplemental materials.

William J. Crook wrote this letter to his cousin from the field in Kentucky on October 7, 1862. He discusses his regiment's campaign in Kentucky, including the recent Confederate victory in the Battle of Richmond. He also proclaims his belief in the Southern cause, praises Southern womanhood, and discusses religion and family life.

William J. Crook wrote this letter to his cousin Hattie from Tullahoma, Tennessee on November 12, 1862. He discusses the failure of the Kentucky campaign, the hardships accompanying the retreat, Northern politics, and the future course of the war. He also asks for news of his other cousins.

William J. Crook wrote this letter to his cousin, Hattie Crook, at Columbia Female College in Columbia, South Carolina on May 4, 1864. In it, he describes enemy reconnaissance, discusses the upcoming Northern Presidential election, relates news about family and friends, enumerates his thoughts on marriage, and mentions that the enemy is advancing on Cleveland road.

This Confederate pay voucher, written on Form No. 3 (Officers Pay Account), documents Captain William Jennings' pay from September 1, 1862 through November 28, 1862. Captains were paid $140.00 per month, so Jennings received a total of $410.67 for his service during this period. Receipt of delivery signed on the pay voucher places Captain Jennings in Knoxville, Tennessee on April 13, 1863.
