Abstract This collection contains glass slides from the Army Service Forces Training program. The Army Service Forces were created from existing services in 1942 alongside the Army Air Forces and the Army Ground forces as a result of trying to minimize the number of separate entities that were reporting to General George Marshall, the Chief of Staff under Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Abstract

This collection consists of a letter dated March 3, 1848 from General William Conner to President James Polk, written from Brownsville, Tennessee. Conner requests the appointment of his son, John Conner, as a captain in the U. S. Army. John was enlisted in the 4th regiment of the Tennessee Volunteers at the time this letter was written.
