This collection contains a transcription of a letter written by Pyrrhus Joseph (P.J.) Neil, in 1868, to his father, John Harvey McKinley Neil while P.J. was a student at East Tennessee University. The image at the bottom of the letter is of P.J.'s grandfather, along with two brothers, who came to Knox County from Ireland in the late 1700's.
This collection consists of six letters concerning a faculty position at East Tennessee University. In the first letter Dr. Richard Currey submits his letter of intent to Joseph Estabrook. The other letters concern recommendations on behalf of Richard Currey.
This collection consists of one correspondence from Thomas W. Humes to R. H. Armstrong. It was written on July 6, 1868. Humes writes to Armstrong about the salary and housing of a recently appointed professor, Reverend M. Grace.
