Abstract

This collection consists of a pamphlet titled Alcoa's Hydroelectric Developments in the Smoky Mountains. The pamphlet describes development of the Alcoa Aluminum Company's hydroelectric plants in the Smoky Mountains. Also included are two photographs, one of the Cheoah Development and one of the Narrows created by the Calderwood Dam.

This pamphlet by J. Elmer Housley covers the history of Tapoco, Inc., a subsidiary of the Aluminum Company of America, and its developments in the Appalachian Mountains from 1910 to 1945. It also discusses the terrain of the Appalachian Mountains, as well as the history of the area beginning in 1540.
