Clinton B. Allison Department of Education Collection
This collection contains materials documenting Professor Clinton Allison’s service in the Department of Education at the University of Tennessee. These items include newsletters from the department (for example The View from Rocky Top,The Claxton Educator, and Staff Stuff), state and university publications on secondary and higher education, and meeting agendas and minutes from Allison’s tenure as president of the Faculty Senate in the academic year 1976-1977. Additionally, the collection houses records of various departmental self-studies and initiatives. As Allison was born in 1935, some of the materials in the collection appear to have come from earlier professors in the department.

Biographical/Historical Note
Clinton B. Allison received a doctoral degree from the University of Oklahoma. After holding brief positions at Wichita State University and at the University of Oklahoma, Allison arrived at the University of Tennessee. Here, his research focused on the history of American (and especially Southern) education.
