This collection contains various event programs from the University of Tennessee. Programs include the Tenth Annual Agricultural Club Banquet, the 1923 and 1925 graduation booklet (seeming to belong to Margaret Susan Taylor), a program for a flautist recital, an itinerary for an annual circus, a programme for three ballet performances, a football schedule, and a Recreation Handbook for Group Leaders from 1944.

Unsigned Letter to My Dear Annie regarding the treatment of slaves

Abstract

Collection consists of part of an unsigned letter written to My dear Annie, dated July 4. The year not given, and the letter is incomplete, lacking one or more pages. Much of the letter deals with the writer defending the treatment of enslaved people by southerners. Also writes that her husband, a Presbyterian minister, and her had to move from Kentucky to Clarksville, Tennessee to avoid factionalism within the church.

Uriah Fleshman Letter

Abstract

Uriah Fleshman of the 118th Ohio Infantry wrote this letter at Camp Soudon, Tennessee on October 25, 1863 just before the Battle of Resaca. He discusses recent skirmishes between his regiment and the nearby Confederate troops as well as the imminent battle.

Uriah Scott Letters

Abstract

This collection consists of two letters written by Uriah Scott. He wrote one to his niece from Fort Pillow, Tennessee on February 27, 1863 and one to his mother from Union City, Tennessee on November 20, 1863. In these letters, Scott describes serving picket guard, mentions fighting in a small battle, and discusses family life. A short note on the back of the letter to his niece addressed to J. J. Weller discusses a business matter involving a black laborer.
