Blacksmith's Records, 1848 January 1-August 5
This recordkeeping book is from a blacksmith dated from January 1 to August 5, 1848. There are many pages missing, and the owner is unnamed. A note on the first intact page, however, indicates that the book is from Henning, Lauderdale County, Tennessee.
The pages, dated at the top, include the names of customers and expenses along with total paid. The insides of the covers have notes and drawings in them.

Sallie Morgan House Ewin used this notebook to record the song lyrics to popular songs in the American South during the time of the Civil War, as well as some of her own notes.
Some pieces also may be her own songs or poems regarding the South and the Civil War, notably Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson. Only one entry is dated (1867), but the front inside cover is dated 1863 and 1864.
