This collection consists of one diary written in by Robert Y. McReynolds from 1835 to 1838. McReynolds primarly writes of his travels as a circuit preacher, largely in the Kentucky area. At the end of the journal he writes about various relatives.

Scope and Contents Note From the Collection: This account book from a military college includes a detailed handwritten list of provisions taken from May 5, 1799 to June 24, 1802. Additionally in the book are various writings by the author such as poetry and quotes. Several entries are made for "Col. Le Marchant." Although the college is only noted as "military college," it is possible it is from the Royal Military College of the United Kingdom (or one of its predecessors) as it was founded in 1801 by John Gaspard Le Marchant....

In addition are two articles written by Hamer: "Report on the International Status of Slavery" from May 1918 and "A Century before Manumission: Sidelights on Slavery in Mid-eighteenth Century South Carolina."
