Maureen Carlomagno authored this research paper, entitled "Opening New Doors for Young Women: The History of Knoxville Female Academy" and dated April 14, 1997, for an English III AP class. Carlomagno mentions a number of prominent Knoxvillians and educational pioneers, including Lizzie Crozier French.

A letter from Private Pembroke S. Scott of the 118th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, dated December 21, 1863 from camp 18 miles east of Knoxville, to his mother in Ohio about Civil War camplife and the harsh conditions he faced, as the 118th lacked rations and supplies.

This collection contains a letter written to then Mayor Peter Staub of Knoxville, Tennessee, by a group of Knoxville citizens on May 20, 1875. The letter concerns their dissatisfaction with a new hog law in which hogs must be penned up. In the letter, the authors threaten to burn down Staub’s home and anyone inside should the law be enforced.

This collection houses a letter written by Peter Staub, then the mayor of Knoxville, to the Trustees of East Tennessee University in reference to Knoxville's inability to collect outstanding taxes.

This collection contains images (primarily postcard views) of 135 Tennessee cities. It is particularly rich in images of Knoxville, documenting the city and its history through pictures of airports, individual buildings, maps, vistas, people, vehicles, the Tennessee River, street scenes, and the 1982 World's Fair.

This document lists materials and costs for the building of Knoxville's first jail. Dated May 9, 1807, it is labeled "Long and Booths Bill."

This consists of postcards that shows various locations and landmarks around Knoxville such as the Andrew Johnson Hotel, the Knoxville Courthouse, Fountain City Lake, and the University of Tennessee. The dates of the postcards range from around 1908 to 2013, with some of them being blank and others having writing and postage stamps on them.

A single business card for R. H. Coker, a barber in Knoxville. The card lists that Coker's business is an "antiseptic barber shop."

In this letter to his friend John D. McAdoo of Clinton, Tennessee, R. M. Moore discusses his health and the state of affairs at East Tennessee University in addition to sending news of several mutual friends.

This collection consists of two ledgers belonging to dentist R. N. Kesterson of Knoxville, Tennessee, covering the years 1894 to 1896. They contain the names of customers, the dates they came in, and the dental work they had done.

This collection houses eight letters from Robert A. Ragan to his wife, Emeline (Neass) Ragan, during the Civil War. In them, Ragan discusses battles and skirmishes with the Rebels, describes the landscapes he has seen, relates his frustration with army life, mentions his fear of moving too far South, and comments on his unit's movements and actions. He also expresses his concern for his family and friends in Tennessee and asks Emeline to write to him and to pray for him in the struggle.

Robert Neville wrote this letter to his wife, Mary (Atkinson) Neville, while he was serving with Company E of the 103rd Ohio Infantry near Knoxville, Tennessee. He tells his wife that his health is good, describes the region's enthusiastic reception of Union Soldiers, and expounds upon his religious views.
