This bound ledger records the accounts of A. J. Kennedy's sawmill. It begins with an alphabetical list of customers (some of whom were prominent early citizens of Knoxville) and goes on with an itemized list of charges. These charges were incurred for such things as hauling flour to river, loads of wood, loads of hay, quarts of whiskey, scantling, making three pairs of shoes, and various other consumer items.

This collection consists of the personal papers of Ada Campbell Larew and includes manuscripts, historical essays, poems, plays, and short stories authored by Larew. Also available are personal correspondence, press clippings, and memorabilia.

A single letter, written October 26, 1863, by Alfred Edward Waldo to his parents. In the letter, he details the defense of Knoxville, Tennessee against General James Longstreet's attack as well as writing of his rations and requesting for new clothes.

In this letter to his mother (written near Knoxville, Tennessee), Allen Clifton reports on his unit's position and supplies, describes the weather, mentions that he is in good health, inquires about the health and doings of family members and friends, and asks for some postage stamps. He also asks about the returned veterans and solicits his mother's opinion of his decision not to re-enlist.

This collection houses postcards printed in 1906 and sent to Annie G. McDowell of Asheville, North Carolina in 1908 and 1909. All of the cards show scenes of Knoxville and Tennessee.

This Civil War letter was written by Benton L. Thompson of the Union Army, and contains general details of his journey to Knoxville, Tennessee by railway and by foot for the Siege of Knoxville.

C. Perry Goodrich wrote this letter to his wife, Frances (Bowen) Goodrich, in Christiana, Wisconsin on March 13, 1864. In it, Goodrich describes the recent battle for Knoxville and mentions that both the Union and Confederate Armies are living on hardtack and coffee due to extreme lack of supplies.

C. Perry Goodrich of the 1st Wisconsin Cavalry wrote this letter from a camp near Kingston, Tennessee on December 12, 1863. In it, he discusses Longstreet's clash with Burnside in the Knoxville campaign and mentions rumors that are circulating, including one stating that Gen. Crook with the 2nd Div. Cav. has defeated the Rebel Gen. Wheeler.

This circular provides “facts and figures showing why the voters of Knox County should vote for the subscription of $100,000 at the election, Saturday, October 29.” Specifically, it lists the assessed valuation for each district in Knox County and compares the needed tax to the potential gains in markets and other value.

This collection contains two handwritten letters from soldier Charles Morris written in 1864 and 1865 from east Tennessee. The letters are addressed to his brother and sister in South Wales, New York.

The collection consists of one record book with the lineage records of the members of the James White Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The records are dated up to June 3, 1929.

This letter dated February 19, 1864, was written by David A. Moulton, a Union solider and a private in the 11th Regiment, New Hampshire Infantry. He was stationed at a camp near Knoxville, Tennessee and writes to his mother Miriam S. Moulton in Hampton, New Hampshire. He expresses to her thanks and gives some information about a scrimmage victory over Confederate Army leader Lieutenant General Longstreet in early February 1864.

In a January 20, 1864, note from Knoxville, Tenn., Brigadier General Davis Tillson, Chief of Artillery for the Department of the Ohio, states that Mr. Mayberry has permission to take enslaved individuals found within the city limits to his farm.

In this letter to his parents, Owen and Permelia (Cooper) Tuttle, Corporal Ephraim Tuttle discusses the Battle of Fort Sanders. He includes descriptions of Confederate casualties, estimating that the Confederate forces lost about 360 soldiers with approximately the same number taken prisoner. Tuttle goes on to detail skirmishes at Bean's Station, Blain's Crossroads, and Rockford and mentions the lack of supplies and struggles with commanding officers.

This collection contains a list of those buried in the First Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Knoxville, Tennessee. The survey was conducted by Roscoe C. D'Armand in 1960, adding to a survey conducted by Dr. Andrew P. White in 1901, when several graves were moved in preparation of construction on the church. The typed document in 35 pages in length.

Nathaniel C. McLean wrote this letter to his wife, Mary Louise (Thompson) McLean, on May 3, 1864 while he was inspecting Union fortifications in and around Knoxville, Tennessee.

In a letter written February 4, 1865 from the Officers' Hospital in Knoxville, Tenn., to Colonel Cross, George W. Douglas writes concerning his desire for an artifical leg to help him walk.

This collection consists of a hand drawn survey dated 1806 of lands held near Nashville, Tennessee by George Washington Campbell, a letter written by Campbell to a Mrs. Mary Doherty in 1832 concerning 640 acres of Campbell's land in Tennessee, and an undated stereograph of George Washington Campbell's Nashville, Tennessee mansion.
