Abstract

This collection consists of memoir titled, A Brief History of Marine Air Warning Squadron Eight by Ed. Farmer, written in 1984. It includes a history of the Marine Air Warning Air Squadron Eight stationed in Okinawa, Japan during World War II. The booklet includes maps and personnel rosters of the various operations of MAWS-8 as they landed in Okinawa.

Fred Dearing Collection

Merle L. Perkins Memoirs

Overview This collection contains two memoirs written by Merle Perkins regarding his experiences serving in World War II. The first is entitled “Ordeal of Arms: Air Combat, Europe and the Balkans” (1993) and is over 200 pages of a typed narrative with copies of illustrations and newspaper articles. Also included is a chronological list of missions Perkins flew in the preface of the manuscript. The second writing is entitled “Recollections of Air Combat” (1996) and is over 100 typed pages of poems...

Robert D. Newcomb Papers

Overview

This collection consists of items related to Robert Newcomb’s World War II military service, especially with the Lodwick Aviation Military Academy (LAMA) including Newcomb’s diploma from 1944 and a copy of a LAMA yearbook for the 61st Army Air Force flying training detachment. Also included are two photos of Newcomb and a plane at Cochran Field in Macon, Georgia, from 1944. All items in this collection are photocopies.
